Tell President Obama you don't want Canadian tar sand oil coming to the U.S.

  • President Obama can stop an environmental disaster right now by denying a permit right for the Keystone XL pipeline.
  • The Keystone XL pipeline is a fuse to the largest carbon bomb on the planet, the Canadian tar sands. The world's leading climate scientists say that if we burn the tar sands it could be "game over" for the planet.
  • I'm risking arrest outside the White House because we desperately need the President Obama to do the right thing and stop this pipeline.
Right now, President Obama can stop an environmental disaster with a stroke of his pen. He needs to listen to ordinary Americans, not oil companies, and say no to a new pipeline that could cause a BP disaster right in America's heartland, over the largest source of fresh drinking water in the country.

The proposed Keystone XL pipeline would also open up the Canadian tar sands – the dirtiest fuel on the planet. The top climate scientist in the world has said that if we begin burning the tar sands, it could be "game over" for the planet.

This is Obama's biggest environmental test before the 2012 election.

The President's failure to take any substantive steps to protect the environment and stop the climate crisis has left his base disheartened and desperate. He can blame Congress for the Democrats' failure to pass a climate bill despite unprecedented majorities, but this decision is his and only his.

Denying the pipeline permit, right now, is a chance for Obama to stand up to Big Oil and electrify his supporters.

We're risking arrest at the White House to send a message. Obama has the power to do the right thing, but he must do it now. The future of our planet depends on it.

Looking forward to seeing more of you here in DC!
